Dear riders, supporters and friends,
We have taken the reluctant decision to postpone the 2020 BDO Tour of Northland (scheduled to start on 19 March) due to the risks surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
You will be all too aware of the recent increase in cases overseas and the preventive measures around containment that many sporting bodies have taken around events.
Dynamo’s whole ethos is on providing fun, safe events. In the event the situation worsens in New Zealand, we have a responsibility to do all we can to minimise the risk to you – our friends in the cycling community, your families, supporters and the wider population.
As named sponsors, BDO’s Chairman David O’Connor and BDO Northland Managing Partner Scott Kennedy provided the following statement:
“We understand and support the decision Dynamo have made based on the very premise that participants, supporters, and the wider community are paramount in terms of our concern for their well-being. Our approach to corporate responsibility leaves us in no doubt that we are in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines for ensuring that “people’s health amongst all things must come first.”
This decision was not taken lightly and we’re gutted to be making this call as we know that this will be as disappointing for you as it is for us, but with the current uncertainty and potential impact, we think it’s the only sensible way forward.
Unfortunately No Refunds will issued. We have incurred a large number of costs as we are only days away from the event. However we are able to carry over your entry to the 2021 BDO Tour of Northland. There will be more information to come on this in the coming days.
Regards
Nathan & Stephen Cox
