The second of the Dynamo Winter Fun ride series kicked off in Hamilton on Sunday. The Bobs Bikes sponsored event attracted over 300 riders across both the 80km and 50km circuit. The Hamilton weather turned it on and although it was a fresh start to the day it turned out to be a nice sunny winter day. Race Director Stephen Cox couldn’t have asked for a better day, “It was -1 degrees when I left home at 5am this morning but we seem to have luck on our side during August with another exceptional day here in Hamilton”.
While the majority of the field aim to complete the course, there has been a continual increase of elite riders turning up. In the men’s field, Ride 1 winner Connor Brown (Nature Valley Cycling Team), Logan Griffin, Daniel Molyneux and Josh Aldridge were the ones to watch.
There was a strong group of 6 that went clear early including Molyneux and Aldridge but couldn’t hang on and were reeled in by the strong front bunch headed by a strong contingent of Speedworks riders. Josh Kysten proved too quick in the sprint home easily accounting for Matt Markby with Matt Gorter popping up in 3rd. Emma Poole revered the week 1 result on Deane Bell to be the first of the female’s home.
Ride 3 of the series heads to Cambridge next week. Make sure you check out the results!
